Is Sickle Cell SC, full blown sickle cell anemia & what does that mean?

To have "full blown" sickle cell anemia results in disease with intense pain and anemia (too few red blood cells), and can be fatal if untreated. The disease is inherited as an autosomal recessive trait, so only people who got SC hemoglobin genes from both mom and dad will have disease.
