southern European countries had a slower pace of life, they worked to live, not live to work. This fact was totally disregarded when integrating these countries into the Euro. Like running donkeys in the Grand national they can't cope nor do they want to, surely they would have been far better off with the drachma, and much more tourism? As it is most southern European countries are too expensive to attract the tourism that they used to.
