What does mature rice look like in Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands?

I have rice island unlocked. It's fall.. my rice looks ready to harvest but when I cut it with my sickle it doesn't give me any rice. Can anyone give an accurate description of what mature rice looks like or tell me if I'm doing something wrong? (I have a yellow wonderful equipped to my sickle) Thanks
